Cancelling driving lessons due to unexpected maintainence / breakdown problems is both inconvenient and embarassing for the instructor and a let down for the pupil. Regularly replacing instruction vehicles incurs greater cost than holding onto them and crossing ones fingers.
Driving instructors vehicles do many miles. Apart from reliability comfort is a factor. A comfortable car enhances the quality of the driving lesson for both pupil and instructor.
