Submission guidelines

Please read these guidelines through
before submiting any work

Thank you for even considering making a contribution
to the knowledge base of this website

Firstly I would like to point out to you the benefits of becoming a contributing author to this website. You obviously want to know what the practical benefits of contributing are so I will tell you now.

At the base of every article and tutorial there is a section entitled 'about the author'. This section is invaluable to you, especially if you have a website. There is no doubt that the feeling that goes with having a document labelled with your name is nice. It tells the people that read the resources (and there are many) that you have played your part. If you have a website then the link shows them that they can directly view the website of the author from that document. That extra link is the payback for your website.

Links are the currency of the internet. They are the way in which people move from site to site. Search engines prefer links to be 'on theme' for the website that points them and there is more benefit for the site that is pointed at by an 'on theme' link.

Anyone can have a link from their relevent operating area/s just by submitting their details. The search engine ranking benefit of being on those pages is divided by the number of sites on the page. The external link from your own submitted work is dedicated to your site and is therefore worth twenty times more in search engine terms (there are twenty links per page maximum in the linking pages).

There will be no other external links on the page unless they form a part of your work. There are no limits placed on the amount of documents that you can submit, and therefore, the extra links that you can acquire.

Remember: - These links are from a properly optimised website that has a dedicated theme covering many, many pages which happens to be 'on theme' with the theme of your own website. Links from sites such as this to your website are gold dust in search engine optimisation terms.

Guidelines

All work submitted remains the intellectual and copyright property of the originating author

This is the most basic promise in web publishing.

No-one is going to change anything without your permission and it will all be removed should you wish it.

I cannot for the life of me see a reason why you would wish to remove a document from the resource base but if the originating author wishes it then it will be done.

Documents on Articles or Tutorials already covered are always welcomed

The theory here is quite simple: -

The more different documents submitted on the same subject the more likely it is that the visitors (and they are the point don't forget) will understand a particular point.

There are many and varied ways available of explaining everything. Please feel free to cover ground that has already been covered.

Do not be afraid to make references to the rules in the highway code

If you refer to a rule from the highway code by number I will change the number into an internal site link aiming directly at that rule.

All work should be your own

It goes without saying that work submitted should actually be submitted by the person who wrote it.

Please do not copy other peoples work just to get an extra link to your website.

Work that has previously been submitted to other sources is welcomed

It is inconceivable to me that pupils will have seen every driving related internet site and every publication, particularly from our trade.

If you have something useful that has been published elsewhere then please send it along.

The more documents submitted the merrier

There is no upper limit to the number of documents that you can submit. I am quite happy to put up a ream of pages by the same author, on condition that they are the work of that author and contain subject matter that is relevent to the theme of this website.

All submitted work should be about educating drivers or subjects that may be of interest to them

The majority will probably be about learning to drive of course, but subject matter that may be of interest; or useful to people once they have passed is fair enough.

I will consider the merits of every document individually.

Submission of documents

The easiest way for me is if you could write the piece in a word-processor and include the document as an attachment to an e-mail.

I have Microsoft Office XP so documents written on 'Microsoft Word' are easiest but if this is not available to you I can accept documents written in the 'Rich Text Format'. These are documents which use the file extension *.rtf at the end. This is a very common filetype that can be used by most text editing software.

If you have the window operating system (and you probably do) then you have a piece of software called 'Microsoft Notepad' which can be found under the 'accessories' section of the 'programs' list. This saves in *.txt format which is also acceptable.

Acceptable file formats: -

*.doc       *.rtf       *.txt

Submit here

Please enter the word 'submission' in brackets like this... (submission) at the beginning of the subject line followed by the title of the piece. This is simply so that I can pick out submissions from the general clutter in my e-mail box before I perform a mass deletion. If I had taken all the viagra and had the benefit of all of the penis extensions that I have been offered lately I would be able to pebble-dash walls! Enough said.

Thank you in advance for your understanding in this matter. Please submit all works to: -
