Does The Knowledge Base work?
Driving Knowledge Base
The Driving Knowledge Base works a treat.
Repeated visits to the Driving Knowledge Base are to your advantage.
I am a fully qualified and full time driving instructor. I would not waste my time writing the Driving Knowledge Base if it were ineffective.
This 'Driving Knowledge Base' was originally written for the use my own pupils. Then they told me that their friends were using it as well! I have no objection to this. If I did there would be a password. Over the last couple of years or so I have received E-mails from people in different parts of the country thanking me for the Driving Knowledge Base and saying that it helped them to practice for and therefore pass their practical test.
Therein lies the answer to the question. If people who have no working relationship with me what-so-ever are using this Driving Knowledge Base to supplement their regular lessons then it must work.
I can tell you for definate that regular pupils of mine who use the various sections of the Driving Knowledge Base frequently; do require less driving lessons to gain a driving licence than they otherwise would. There is no other way that they could make that kind of progress.

What does the 'Driving Knowledge Base' contain.....?
The Knowledge Base is split into several sections for your convenience which are easy to find via either the buttons on the right-hand side of the page, or the links below which also contain useful descriptions.
-
The Practical Tutorials section comprises a list of topics which you will be learning about on your lessons. Each tutorial is designed as a memory aid to assist you in remembering, and enhancing that knowledge between driving lessons. This section has been designed very much with the learner driver in mind.
If you can remember the topic/s that you are due to cover on your next lesson then you can plan ahead and read up on those topics in the Driving Knowledge Base before you ever get near your tuition vehicle. Combine this forward learning with the obvious revision possibilities and your driving knowledge should grow rapidly. This leaves more of your driving lesson time free to resolve the issues that arise with actually driving the car in todays high-traffic environment.
-
The Highway Code section of the Driving Knowledge Base contains a full copy of the Highway Code copied with the full permission of the Crown Copyright Office. This version however is hyperlinked, so if you look something up in the index for example there is no need to go looking for the relevent page. Click on the rule number that you are interested in and you will be whisked there instantly.
The Highway Code should be essential reading for every learner. Use it as a reference alongside the Articles and Practical Tutorials and you cannot go far wrong.
Aah, the power of the internet. The other advantage of being online is that you are probably more inclined to read it and as well as being free, you cannot lose this copy. At least not if you have made use of the "Add to favourites" or "Bookmark" button in your browser. -
The Articles list comprises articles which may be useful to you before, during, or after your test. The origin of this section lies with real pupils. On lessons instructors are sometimes asked questions which the instructor is quite capable of giving a much fuller answer to than there is time for on a lesson. This is the origin of the Articles section of the Knowledge Base.
If there is a particular subject that you would like to see an article based upon then please feel free to e-mail the Webmaster and I will see what can be done. All requests are most welcome. If it would be interesting or useful to you then it certainly will to others. -
'The Tests' section contains all of the pages that contain the details relating to the different parts of the Theory Test and Practical Driving Tests.
The Theory test also includes a Hazard Perception Test (HPT) element and the Practical driving test these days includes a 'Show Me / Tell Me' element which is not anything like as daunting as other people might make it out to be.
The Theory and Hazard Perception Tests have to be passed on the same day. A Practical Driving Test cannot be boked until you have obtained a Theory Test Pass Certificate.
as long as you use the cd/rom, the one that you will be given free of charge on your sixth lesson, regularly in preparation for the day of your theory tests then I can see no problem in you passing at the first attempt. -
The DL25D Driving Test Report form is the document that you are left with if you fail a practical driving test. If you have been in this unfortunate position already then this section will help you to unravel the mystery surrounding what the examiner may have been looking for.
The examiners debrief can be particularly helpful, especially if you can remember it after the shock! Pay special attemtion to any areas that the examiner took the time to point out to you in the bebrief. These may only be the major points behind the fail; but they are the best place to start.
Your Driving Instructor is the best person to advise you as to what corrective action is required. Professional Instruction is invaluable when learning to drive. If you do not currently have a driving instructor or wish to change, please make use of the section below. -
If you would like to Find a Driving School in your area then this is the Knowledge Base resource for you. At the moment each page contains one county which is, or will be, sub-divided into towns and cities. As more instructors contact me to add their details the pages will be divided further as necessary.
I can accept no liability for claims made by other individuals or organisations and there are no connections between ourselves and any of the driving schools that you will find on these pages. Inclusion in these pages should not be seen as a recommendation by Findley's driving School. -
The Environmental section of the website is full of guest articles. Originating authors are recognized with links at the foot of their articles. This is a section that I would like to find more time to work on in the future.
Other topics of the day are covered with a view to educating readers in the many ways in which our environment either affects or is affected by road users.
The Environmental Section is made up entirely of guest articles with links which recognise the originating authors. If you have any articles that you think would fit into this section then please submit them for inclusion. - The Useful links section is a resource that will take you to many interesting places either directly about or related to the motor industry which, when all is said and done, is what learning to drive is all about.
