Potential Hazards
Potential Hazards are hazards which you need to keep an eye on
If you look between the motorcyclist and the pedestrian you can just see a young cyclist pedaling towards you. As a vulnerable road user a young cyclist is one which you should keep an eye on even in a case like this where they are not actually on the road.
Obviously this is only one example of a potential hazard. To give a couple more:
A pedestrian is standing alongside the kerb apparently waiting patiently for a space to cross safely. They are definately a potential hazard as they may move at any time. Keep an eye on them.
If you see a group of school children being walked along the footpath they are definately a potential hazard. In a case such as this I would recommend not only keeping an eye on them but move out from your normal driving position a little to give them extra clearance, just in case.
