Why is it so expensive to become an A.D.I?

The prices available vary but in most cases I feel that the following is true

There is no excuse for it. In my own opinion the course fees are a rip off!

This will not make me a very popular person with the training organisations but I will live with it.

The organisations that do most of the instructor training are in turn owned by stock market listed companies. Therefore their only concern is profit. The instructors who actually teach you do not see anything like the amount of money that you hand over. A pity really because no-one else does anything to help you.

There are trainers available who offer their services directly to people who wish to train to become driving instructors. When I have the time I will add a list of links to the ones who have websites.

Be very careful what you sign up to if you are considering becoming a driving instructor and read my article So you want to become a driving instructor. It may change your mind and save you a lot of time, effort and did I mention money.

I would not advise you to sign any training deal that tied yu in to working for that company at the end. I would also advise against joining a course where all of the three parts have to be paid for up front. What if you fail the second part? Or the first!

I could carry on with this for pages and probably will one day. Be very careful and read the contract carefully before you sign it. Be sure that you know exactly what you are paying for and do not accept any verbal promises or glossy brochures. The contract is all that matters.
