Who is responsible for speeding points and fines while we are on a driving lesson?

Yes, I have really been asked this question.

While you are on a driving lesson you can expect to drive within the speed limit.

The way the law stands it is the person driving the car at the time of the offence who is responsible and therefore the pupil would pay the fine and the points would be added to the pupils provisional licence.

We will not teach you where the speed cameras are either. You will be taught to drive properly.

Any driving instructor will remind you of the speed limit or even take corrective action with their dual-controls if you look like speeding within the area of a speed camera.

I have been asked by e-mail to add a page to this website detailing the locations of all of the speed cameras in the areas in which we teach together with the speed limits of those roads. Not a chance. I expect that you will be taught to drive properly. It is then up to you to maintain your own driving standards afterwards.
