What are the driving test examiners like?

people worry too much about the examiners.

I have come across people in the past who are more worried about the examiner than the test. This is ridiculous.

Your examiner is a civil servant. They are well trained professionals who have no bias what so ever as to whether or not you pass a driving test. The basis of what they do is simple enough. They will watch what you do and if you do anything that they have to mark you down for then they will. That is it.

When the examiner walks out with you at the beginning of the test the assumption is that you can do everything perfectly, otherwise why would you have come? They simply have to perform the formality of driving around with you so that you can show them that this is the case. If you unexpectedly make a mistake then they will mark it down on their sheet. At the end of the test they will add up any marks on the sheet and give you the result.

The examiners are allowed to talk to you these days and will try to put you at your ease. They are only human themselves and understand that you will be nervous. The days of the examiner having to sit in stoney silence are thankfully over.

Any horror stories that you have heard from friends or at work/college should be ignored completely. They are just trying to wind you up.
