My surname has changed since I applied for my provisional licence. Can I still take driving lessons?

Changing surnames is one thing that instructors come across on a regular basis.

It is not unusual for someones' surname to change between the time that they apply for a provisional driving licence and when they take either lessons or a test.

On the bottom of your provisional driving licence there is a section for changing details. Simply fill this in with your new details and bring it with you.

There is no need to send off your provisional to get the changes made before you take your practical test. Once the test has been passed and the old licence sent away (properly filled in), the new one will come with the ammended details.
