After having had a few driving lessons I am still not very confident, what do you suggest I do?
Do not feel bad for a start. Lack of confidence is not uncommon
Many people feel that passing their practical test is a landmark passed but not necessarily the whole story as far as confidence goes
To get used to being on your own stick to driving in areas that you know. Venturing further afield when you feel more comfortable with it.
Do not feel the need to rush on fast roads. There is no obligation to drive quickly on dual-carriageways. As long as you are not holding people up you will be fine. Lets face it. If you were that bad you never would have passed the test.
Do not drive with passengers that you feel place you under pressure. The presence of such people can be very intimidating until you get used to driving without an instructor, even if you know them.
At the risk of sounding like a public information message, leave plenty of time for your journey. If you do whatever you can to reduce the pressure on yourself to rush then the driving experience ill be more pleasurable.
Take a last tip from a cynical A.D.I. If you are going to be late do not rush. Drive properly and apologise when you get there. You will arrive in a better frame of mind and be more useful to the people that are waiting for you if you are not as stressed as you would have been had you rushed through the traffic.
