Can I bring my mobile to the car?

With Findley's you are free to bring your mobile 'phone on your driving lesson.

You may have read on our home page that a mobile phone is not allowed on a driving lesson. Fear not. This only means that the instructor will not use a mobile 'phone for the duration of your driving lesson.

On a day to day basis whilst out on the road as a driving instructor I regularly see other instructors using their mobile 'phone on a lesson. I do not feel that it is acceptable for an instructor to simply tell their pupil to 'follow the road ahead' while, in the mean time, the instructor is carrying out their business activities. Even if they insist upon pulling into the kerb the time is still lost. The lesson has been interrupted and there is no possible benefit to the pupil.

We have no objection what so ever to pupils bringing their mobile 'phone to a driving lesson if they so wish. Personally speaking I would prefer that they leave it switched off as even the vibration from a silent call can be a distraction. Let's face it. Your friends can live without you for a single hour of the day and if they have to speak to you they can always leave a message can't they. You may also like to bear in mind that lessons are expensive. Do you really want to pay an instructor that much to listen to your conversation? Didn't think so.
