No two refresher courses are ever the same
When we meet I will need to confirm with you exactly what your aims are. If you want to refresh your driving style or remind yourself how to do those manoeuvres safely, this is not a problem.
Most refresher courses are taken by people who, for whatever reason, wish to regain confidence in their own driving abilities.
There are often local junctions, quite major ones, that the pupil will not ordinarily take. This is easily sorted out.
Over the years both the road system and the rules by which we are supposed to drive has changed. How many people are up to date? Not enough. Most people drive on in ignorance of more modern driving techniques until they come across something that they do not understand, then they hope for the best. If you feel that this person may be you then a refresher course is surely a better option.
I have met a person who passed their test twelve years before and that was the last time they drove. The licence remained in a draw ever since. No wonder they had forgotten how to do it.
Another person wanted to be shown how to reverse park, having taken their test enough years ago that they had never been taught and had studiously avoided the manoeuvre ever since. Even though they lived in a crowded city they preferred to just keep looking until they finally found somewhere that they could drive into forwards.
The most common reason I have come across is not driving often enough to maintain the levels of confidence and ability needed to drive under today's road conditions.
