Intensive driving courses
An intensive course can be tailored to your requirements
Some people wish to get it all over with in one or two weeks whilst others are happy with two or three lessons a week
Findley's can make your course whatever you wish it to be. Within reason
Traditionally an intensive course is seen as lessons in the space of a week or fortnight and then the test on the friday.
This is probably the most popular idea that people have when they ring and ask for an intensive course.
The advantage of course is that you get the job done. The disadvantage is that the word 'intense' is one that not enough people think about in advance.
To complete the course of lessons in such a short time is extremely mentally demanding. For the first few days you will feel as if the instructor never shuts up. Indeed they won't but you will initially feel as if you are climbing a very tall mountain. The learning curve is that steep.
While not wishing to disuade you from undertaking an intensive course it is important that you understand that everything is very finite and booked in advance. The timeframe is set in advance.
If there is a particular part of the course that you do not take to on board as well as might be liked, there may not be enough time to re-cover that ground sufficiently.
My recommendation
(Before undertaking a course of intensive driving lessons)
To prevent this from happening I personally would recommend that you take two or three single lessons (or a single two hour lesson) with an instructor first on the understanding that they are assessing your suitability for the requirements of an intensive course.
If the instructor does not think that you are a suitable candidate for an intensive driving course then you have two options: -
- carry on with regular lessons (as many per week as you want so long as the instructor has enough available)
- seek an intensive driving course elsewhere
This second course of action will be easy enough. There are plenty of schools who will take your money and do not care at all about your suitability for an intensive course.
Availability
(of time to conduct an intensive course of driving lessons)
I am in the fortunate position of being a successful driving instructor. I maintain a good reputation and have regular work Monday to Friday with few gaps. There are many others who are not in the same position.
If you wish to take the option of virtually living in the car for a week or a fortnight then I cannot help you. I do not have enough time slots available to be able to fit an intensive driving course into my schedule.
If you wish for an assessment of your suitability for an intensive driving course then I will be able to accommodate you.
If you have decided that you require two or three lessons a week then please
get on the 'phone and book now.
